DYE PENETRATION REPORT ANALYSIS

 

HOW TO PREPARE DYE CHECK REPORT

·         Dye penetration test is carried on fabricated welding joint to detect the surface defects.

·         It is the separate point in quality assurance plan or inspection test plan.

·         Now a days every customer wants his job with sound quality of welding.

·         Most of client demands for welding root run dye check and also final welding dye check to confirm sound weld.

·         Hence normally all fabrication industry uses this dye check method.

·         Dye check may carried out in front of client or TPI and if both are not having witnessed then internal QAC person with minimum ASNT level II in dye penetration test is witness.

·         After witness he must prepare a dye check reports with proper photographs.

·         Client demands for dye check report if witness or not witness also.

·         Following parameters must be include in dye check report.

HEADING/HEADER

·         Report name that is Dye penetrant test and company logo or Name

·         Inspection report number followed by date of inspection

·         Client name

·         Project name and number

·         Purchase order number followed by date

·         QAP number and its stage

·         GA drawing number

·         Part number and part name which is going to be test

·         Procedure number etc.

DESCRIPTION OF DYE CHECK MATERIAL

·         Penetrant dwell time, test certificate number, application, expiry date, serial number, make etc.

·         Cleaner drying time, application, test certificate number, expiry date, serial number, make etc.

·         Developer dwell time, test certificate number, expiry date, serial number, make, type, application etc.

OBSERVATIONS

·         Weld joint identification serially like L-seam/C-seam etc.

·         Material identification & Thickness of material like SA516 Gr 70, 20mm thick.

·         Welding type like SMAW/GTAW etc. and weld run type like root run or final run.

·         Indication observed during testing.

·         Final evaluation as per recorded indication whether it is accepted or not.

·         Acceptance code and standards for procedure.

SIGNATURE AND CLOSURE

·         Signing authority on dye check report needs ASNT level II as a personnel qualification.

·         Report is closed by giving result and signature.

·         Attached the required photos of dye checking step-wise for clarification.
