DISTANCE MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

DISTANCE MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

1.      MEASURING TAPE:

Measuring tape is used to measure long dimensions.

Usually it has least count of 1mm.

It is available in most of the sizes like 3m, 5m, 15m etc.

2.      STEEL RULER SCALE:

Steel rule is also used for measuring medium range longitudinal dimensions.

It has also least count of 1mm.

It is available into sizes of 150mm, 300mm, 600mm, 1000m etc.

3.      VERNIER CALIPER (VC)

It is mainly used to measure linear dimensions.

It is also used to measure outer Diameter, inner diameter, depth of job & linear thickness.

It has least count of 0.02mm

It is available into variety of Mechanical VC, Digital VC & Dial VC.

4.      MICROMETER SCREW GAUGE

It has two types, Point micrometer and flat micrometer both are used to measure thickness of circular job, outer diameter etc.

It has least count of 0.02 mm.

It is available into mechanical and Digital type.

5.      HEIGHT GAUGE:

It is used to measure the height of the objects from bottom or any reference horizontal plane by setting zero reading on that plane.

It has least count of 0.02 mm.

It is available into Mechanical and Digital type.

6.      DEPTH GAUGE:

It is mainly used to measure vertical linear dimensions.

It has least count of 0.02mm

It is available into variety of Mechanical VC & Digital VC.

7.      PLUG GAUGE

It is mainly Go-No Go type gauges used to measure holes, Threads, slots etc. & used when operation is critical.

It is varying in dimensions as per requirements & available in all sizes.

It has variety of Thread Plug Gauge, Plain plug Gauge, Slot plug Gauge etc.

8.      BORE GAUGE

It is used to measure bore, slot to inner diameter for circular section in injection moulding.

It is comes under the assembly with dial gauge of various scale readings.

Its least count is depends upon the dial which attached to it but it can measures up to 0.001mm.

Dial bore gauge and Hemispherical bore gauge are the types of bore gauge.

9.      FILLER GAUGE

It is used to measure the gap between two parallel surfaces.

Its least count normally found is 0.05 mm.
