DESTRUCTIVE TESTING PART-C

DESTRUCTIVE TESTING ON WELDING TEST COUPEN- PART: C

BEND TEST

·        Bend test is perform on the welding joint to check the ductility of the welding.

TYPES

·        There are 4 different types to check ductility by bend test method.

LONGITUDINAL BEND TEST

·        A bend test is carried on along the length of the weld known as longitudinal bend test.

·        Test coupon for testing is parallel to the axis of the weld.

·        We can test with both condition of face or root in tension or compression.

FACE BEND TEST

·        A bend test is carried along the face of the welding known as face bend test.

·        Test coupon for testing is cut transversely before test.

·        Face of the welding is outside the bending.

·        Tension portion is face and compression portion is root of the welding.

ROOT BEND TEST

·        A bend test carried along the welding root known as root bend test.

·        Test coupon for testing is cut transversely before test.

·        Root of the weld is outside the bending.

·        Tension portion is root and compression portion is face of the welding.

SIDE BEND TEST

·        A bend test is carried on side of the welding that is left side or right side known as side bend test.

·        Test coupon for testing is cut transversely before test.

·        One of the side of the welding is in tension or compression.

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

·        The welding joint is acceptable when no any crack is found on the face of bend.
